UTM Parameters

URL campaign tags that record source, medium, campaign, and related traffic metadata.

What it means

UTM parameters are query-string tags (utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign, and related fields) appended to links so analytics can attribute visits to a campaign. They are necessary but not sufficient—identity, sessions, and downstream revenue still have to stay connected.
